Due to the expected less favorable weather conditions on Sunday (July 2), the Canada Games Trials are moved to Monday, July 3. The competition schedule will remain the same; the meet registration is extended to midnight on Sunday, July 2.

Team Selection Meet - Monday, July 3

Registration deadline - 11:59 pm, Sunday, July 2, 2017
  1. This meet is open to NLAA 2017 Track and Field registered member. Non-members, Day Permit holders and non-track and field members are not eligible to participate.
  2. Minimum age is 14 (born in 2005 and earlier); Athletes born in 1996 or earlier can take part in the meet with the following limitations - a) maximum of three attempts in the field events; b) cannot advance to a final in the 100m, 200m, and 400m sprint; c) enter in events that there are NO other athletes trying for the Canada Games Team.
  3. Team NL Requirements - Monday, July 3 is the deadline for all participants to be fully registered and have all required forms completed and submitted. Anyone not registered by that date may not be eligible to participate in the 2017 Canada Games.
  4. Register online before 11:59 pm, Sunday, July 2, 2017 Athletes must include seed performance when registering for the trials! Only best performances achieved in 2017 sanctioned meets should be entered.
    1. Registration fee: 1st event $10.00; each additional event: $5.00 (per event)
    2. Refund Policy: All fees are Non-Transferable and Non-Refundable.
    3. Additions/Event Change:
      No change of events/new events will be allowed past the registration deadline.

Competition Rules

  • The competition will be conducted as per the IAAF Handbook and variations as per Athletics Canada and NLAA rules.
  • Simultaneous Entries - IAAF Rule 142.3:
    If a competitor is entered in both a track and field event, or in more than one field event taking place simultaneously, the appropriate Referee may, for one round at a time, or for each trial in high jump and pole vault, allow a competitor to take his trial in an order different from that decided upon by the draw prior to the start of the competition. However, if an athlete subsequently is not present for this trial, it shall be deemed that he is passing once the period allowed for the trial has elapsed.
  • Failure to participate - IAAF Rule 142.4:
    Scratches will be accepted up to 60 minutes before the scheduled start of the event. If a competitor fails to participate in a registered event following the scratch deadline, he/she will be excluded from participation in all further events in the competition, including relays.
