COVID-19 Safety Guidelines

Tely 10 organizers will follow all public health COVID-19 guidelines and protocols. Race-specific guidelines are in place to deliver a safe Tely 10 experience to participants and organizers.

Changes to traveller vaccine requirements and Vaccine Passports

10:45 am, Wednesday, September 29, 2021.

Service NL announced on September 28 that mandatory Vaccine Passports will be required starting sometime next week for access to non-essential businesses and/or venues. Anyone partially vaccinated will now have the same requirements as unvaccinated travellers. They will be required to isolate for 14 days, but may choose to shorten their self-isolation period with a test on day seven or later after arrival in the province. If negative, their self-isolation period can end.

The Province will be suspending the Atlantic bubble as of September 30, 2021, which means that travellers from Atlantic Canada must declare their vaccination status and isolate if partially vaccinated or unvaccinated.

COVID-19: Travelling to Newfoundland and Labrador

All travellers coming to Newfoundland and Labrador, including Newfoundland and Labrador residents, are required to fill out a travel form found here. The travel form can be completed up to 30 days prior to the travel date. Please submit proof of your COVID-19 vaccination by uploading it to your form.

Stay up to date with public health guidelines from Government of Canada and Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Race Day:
Please complete the COVID-19 self-assessment BEFORE LEAVING YOUR HOME and coming to the start area. If you answer yes to any questions, please stay home and do not come to the race. https://covidassessment.nlchi.nl.ca/

Pre-Race

Registration and Bus Pass

Reduced race capacity to 2550.
Mandatory online registration and bus pass purchase for all participants.
There will be no completion of paper forms and cash payments.

Race kit pick-up

Proof of double vaccination will be required at kit pick up, participants and volunteers.
Indoor race kit pick-up will follow formal gatherings limits; masks required, and with appropriate COVID-19 protocols in place.
Expo will not be offered during the pandemic.
Will not offer T-shirt exchange station.

Race Day

Bus to Start Line

Participants are required to wear a mask covering the nose and mouth while travelling on the bus.

Luggage Busses

Volunteers and participants must wear a mask to check or pick up their bags.
Increased number of luggage busses and fewer checked bags per bus.

Start Area

All participants must avoid physical contact with other participants, including high fives, fist bumps, or close contact before, during, or after the event.
Participants will be asked to maintain physical distance from others.
Event organizers recommend all participants and volunteers wear a non-medical mask (NMM) in the start area, corrals, finish area, and the first several hundred meters of the race until runners are spaced out. Runners may remove their NMM after the race starts and runners are dispersed. Participants should not discard their masks on the street but keep them on their person until arriving at the finish area.
Increased size of starting corrals.
Overall winners and finishing order is determined by Gun Time, age-group rankings are determined by Chip Time (net).

On Course

Water Stations

Stations will be set up in a self-serve format, with athletes grabbing their hydration and nutrition.
Participants should also bring their hydration.
Volunteers will be on hand to restock the tables.

Portable Toilets

Organizers will provide portable toilets at the start area, along the course and at the finish area.
All portable toilets will be sanitized before use and outfitted with hand sanitizer gel dispensers.

Finish Area

Once the participants have crossed the finish line, they should wear a NMM when physical distancing is impossible. Organizers will provide a NMM at the finish line to participants needing one.
Participants will be required to collect their own finisher’s medal after crossing the finish line.
Participants will be required to collect their own nutrition after crossing the finish line.
Participants are asked to leave the finish area after they pick up the refreshments at the end of the finish line chute.

Post-race

Family Reunion Area

The usual post-race celebration at the ballpark will not be held this year.

Race Results

Race results will be streamed live, and no on-site results will be posted.

Awards

Awards will be presented only for the overall top 5 male and female finishers and Dr. Williams Award.
The order in which the athletes cross the finish line will be the official finish position.
All medal winners are encouraged to wear masks during the ceremony when physical distancing is not possible.
Awards medals - medalists will put their medals on themselves.

Top 3 age-group, commemorative pins recipients, and first place team awards

These awards will be available for pick up on RACE DAY between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm at the Grande Olde Band Stand in Bannerman Park.
Chip (net) time will determine the Age Group awards.

Park and Ride

A shuttle service will be available to transport participants and spectators to and from the finish area.
Participants will be asked to wear a non-medical mask while using the shuttle service.
This service will operate from 8:00 am to 11:30 am, from Confederation Building to Circular Rd back to Confederation Building.

Spectators

Spectators watching the finish are encouraged to maintain physical distance and wear a NMM if physical distancing is challenged.
