Canada Games Team Selection Meet

July 8-10, 2022, Pearlgate Track and Field Complex, Mount Pearl



Team NL Eligible Athletes only:

The Trials are open to NLAA Members that meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the NLAA Team Selection Policy, the 2022 Canada Summer Games Athletics Technical Package, and Canada Games Council Athlete Eligibility Policy.


Track and Field Members:

The Trials are open to 2023 Track and Field registered members of the Newfoundland and Labrador Athletics Association (NLAA). An annual track and field membership fee is $40.00. Age eligible non-members wishing to participate in the meet can sign-up for Track and Field Membership online.


Forms to be completed:

Athletes wishing to be considered for the Canada Games team must complete or have their coach/guardian complete the Team Application Form and Team NL Athlete Team Member Agreement.


CCES Anti-Doping Training:

ALL Canada Games TeamNL MEMBERS ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THIS TRAINING. This includes managers, techs and participant assistants. Please ensure that all team members complete this training before July 8th, 2022. Team members not having completed this training prior to departure will not be permitted to go to the Games per Canada Games Council (CGC) policy.

Information

Vaccination Verification

Canada Games Council COVID-19 Policy requires that all staff and participants must be vaccinated to attend the Games. Athletes trying for the Canada Games Team are asked to show proof of vaccination status.

Athletes and staff must be fully vaccinated (2 vaccinations per NL Public Health standards) or qualify for a vaccination exemption before arrival at Brock University.

Athletes must show proof of vaccination during bib pick up; a volunteer will scan the QR code to verify the participant’s vaccination status.


Trials Age Eligibility:

  • Able-Bodied:
    • Under 25 as of December 31, 2022 (Year of Birth: 1998 or later)
    • Minimum age 14 as of December 31
  • All Para-Athletics Classifiable athletes must be under 37 years of age as of December 31, 2022 – born in 1986 or later.
  • Special Olympics athletes must be under 32 years of age as of December 31, 2022 – born in 1991 or later.

Exemptions

The Canada Games Coaching Committee has reviewed and granted exemption requests from the following athletes to skip their events at the Trials.

Registration Information

Confirming your Online Registration is the responsibility of each participant or the coach/parent completing the registration. After entering all personal information, you must click on  PROCEED TO STEP 2  for payment. Clicking on  SAVE & COMPLETE LATER  will not register participants for the event. Athletes successfully registered for the meet will have THEIR NAME APPEAR IMMEDIATELY ON THE CONFIRMATION LIST.
