Canada Games Team Selection Meet

July 11 - 12, 2025, Fortis Canada Games Complex, St. John’s

Important

  • Forms to be completed: Athletes wishing to be considered for the Canada Games team must complete or have their coach/guardian complete the Team Application Form, by 11:59 pm, Saturday, July 12.
  • Athletes will be selected for Team NL based on the NLAA Canada Games Team Selection Policy.
  • The trials will feature a single open-category competition with no upper age limit. Athletes who exceed the age limit will be permitted to participate under the following conditions: they will not displace athletes in the Canada Games trials in track events. They will be limited to three attempts in field events.
  • Athletes in distance events are not permitted to participate with the sole intention of pacing another competitor, nor will pace a competitor after being lapped be permitted. A violation of the noted pacing rules will result in the disqualification of both the athlete providing the pacing and the athlete being paced.

Canada Games Team Selection Age Eligibility

  • Able Bodied: Under 24 as of December 31, 2025 (Year of Birth: 2002 or later). Minimum age 12 as of December 31.

  • All Para athletes must be under 35 years of age as of December 31, 2025, born in 1991 or later.

  • Special Olympics athletes must be under 35 years of age as of December 31, 2024- born 1990 or later.

Track and Field Members:

The Trials are open to 2025 Track and Field registered members of the Newfoundland and Labrador Athletics Association (NLAA). Age eligible non-members wishing to participate in the meet can sign-up for Track and Field Membership online.


Meet Fees

There is no limit to the number of events a competitor may enter. Participants will be charged additional processing fees on-top of registration cost.

  • # of events: Regular Fee
  • 1 Event: $10
  • 2 Events: $15
  • 3 Events: $20
  • Additional events $5 each.

Late registrations are subject to a late fee of $10.

Competition Numbers

All competitors will be supplied with a competitive number. All race numbers must be displayed on the front. The number must not be cut, folded or obscured in any way.

Bib numbers must be picked up at 5:00 pm, on Friday, July 11 , Fortis Canada Games Complex, St. John’s.

Failure to participate

No change or adding of new events will be permitted after the registration deadline.

Scratches will be accepted up to 60 minutes before the event’s scheduled start. If a competitor fails to participate in a registered event, they will be excluded from participation in all further events in the competition.
