Spring Indoor Track and Field Meet

  • The Spring Meet offers individual and school team competitions in the following categories: elementary (grades 4-6), Junior high school (grades 7-9), Senior high school (grades 10-12), and NLAA Open (Senior/Masters).
  • School competition categories are based on grade, not age. Participants can only compete in their school-designated category.
  • Flat entry fee (per participant): $10.00 ($1 extra fee for non-members or participants of non-affiliated schools).
  • Individual Awards: All participants in the school-based categories are eligible for individual awards.
  • Team Awards: NLAA-affiliated schools only with five (5) or more participants in each gender/competition category (e.g., 5 girls in the Senior HS) are eligible for the team awards. No team awards in the NLAA Open/Masters category.
  • Limits: Each participant may enter up to three (3) individual events, plus a relay.
  • No Limits to the number of students/relay teams per school/club.
  • Athletes can represent only One School/One Club during the meet.
  • Wheelchair Rules - “Able Bodied” competitors cannot be entered in Wheelchair (WC) events.
  • Event Bib numbers must be picked up on the meet day in the field house lobby near the main desk; times:
    Morning Session: between 8:15 am and 9:30 am
    Afternoon Session: between 2:00 pm and 3:15 pm

Late ($10.00 late fee applies) - 3:00 pm, Friday, April 12, 2024.

Competition Schedule
Meet Day:
  • Please check the competition schedule again before arriving at the field house. Following the late registration deadline, there may be minor changes!
  • Participants MUST be on-site 50-60 minutes before the scheduled start time of their event.
  • Events will start immediately upon completion of the previous event.
  • Start times may change and move up by up to 30 minutes.
  • F = Female / M = Male / TSF = Timed Sections Final

Events


Elementary School (grades 4 - 5 - 6)
  • 60m, 60m WC, 60m Hurdles (60mH/8"),200m, 200m WC, 4x200m Relay, Standing Long Jump, *Indoor Javelin Throw (Turbojav)

    Turbojav weighs 500 grams and is 42" long / Diameter: 1.5". The Turbojav has a polyethylene body and a super soft elastomer nose.

Junior High School (grades 7 - 8 - 9)
  • 60m, 60m WC, 200m, 200m WC, 400m, 400m WC, 800m, 1200m, 4x200m Relay, Standing Long Jump

Senior High School (grades 10 - 11 - 12)
  • 60m, 60m WC, 200m, 200m WC, 400m, 400m WC, 800m, 1500m, 4x200m Relay

NLAA Open (Senior/Masters)
  • 60m, 60m WC, 200m, 200m WC, 400m, 400m WC, 800m, 1500m, 4x200m Relay (NLAA Clubs only)

Awards


School Categories
(Elementary, Junior HS, Senior HS)
  • Individual awards will be presented immediately following the completion of each individual/relay event. The top eight (8) finishers in each individual and relay event will receive ribbons.
  • Team banners: NLAA will present team banners in the Elementary, Junior HS, and Senior HS competitions to the top girls and boys teams. Schools that have affiliated with the NLAA, before the meet, for the 2023/2024 school year are eligible for the team awards.
  • Eligibility for team awards:
    NLAA-affiliated schools with five (5) or more participants in each gender/competition category are eligible for the team awards (e.g., 5 girls in the Senior HS or 5 boys in the Junior HS).

NLAA Open (Senior/Masters)

No individual or team awards will be presented; however, team scores will be kept.

Team Scoring


  • Individual Events: The top 2 finishers per school/club will score.
  • Relays: Only one (1) team per school will score. Only NLAA registered clubs can have teams in the Open Category. (How to register a relay team?)
  • NLAA Open - Team scores will be kept, but no team awards will be presented.

The NLAA Spring Indoor Track and Field Meet is to be held at the Memorial University Field House in St. John’s. The facility has a six (6) lane 200m oval and eight (8) lane sprint straight track. Change room facilities and showers are available - bring own lock and towel.

Spectators, parents, coaches and non-competing athletes are asked to use the MAIN ENTRANCE of the Field House to enter the building (the doors for the ticket office entrance will be locked). They should then proceed to the upper level of the Field House to watch the competition.

All spectators, coaches and non-competing athletes should use the second floor of the field house to view the competition.

DESIGNATED PARKING for participants, visitors and volunteers:
- Field House parking lot
- parking lot adjacent to the soccer field
- Aquarena overflow

Participants will not be permitted to park in the Aquarena main lot and anyone parking in areas in the Field House lot that are not designated as parking stalls will be ticketed or towed.

Designated Parking

No outside footwear is allowed on the track. All participants must wear indoor sneakers or gym shoes.

Athletes part of the Elementary Schools Competition are NOT ALLOWED TO WEAR SPIKED SHOES.

Athletes competing in the Junior HS, Senior HS and NLAA Open categories may wear track spikes (3mm). Any shoes designed for turf sports are not allowed. Participants may not compete in their bare feet, slippers or socks. Click here to view the Track Footwear and Pins policy.
