Parents/spectators are encouraged to help with the course control.
Are you 14-25 years of age? Then volunteering at the Cross-country Running Series for Schools qualifies for the The Duke of Edinburgh's Award.

Volunteers who are 14 or 15 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

We will be updating the sign-up form for each cross-country meet. We greatly appreciate our volunteers, so please remember to sign up for every meet you can! Thank you for your support!

Location: Jamie Morry Memorial Soccer Field, Bowring Park, St. John’s

Tasks:

Event Setup (7:15 am to 8:15 am)
  • Bib Pickup Area: Set up signage, station dividers, tables, and chairs.
  • Start/Finish Area: Arrange the finish-line chute, crowd-control ropes, feather flags, and awards podium.
  • Course Setup: Place cones along the cross-country running course and behind the soccer pitch.
Course Marshal / Finish Area / Crowd Control / Awards (8:30 am to 12:00 pm)
  • As a course marshal, your responsibilities include: Directing runners, Monitoring course and participant safety, Ensuring fair play, Motivating athletes, Managing non-race pedestrians at key locations along the course
  • Course sweepers: One or two individuals will follow closely behind the last participant in each race.
  • Chute and crowd control: Assist runners in the finishing chute and remind spectators to stay in designated areas away from competing athletes.
  • Awards: Record the top three finishers and assist with the medal presentation.
Event Teardown and Equipment Return (11:45 am to 12:15 pm)
  • Reel back the ropes, pylons, traffic posts, feather flags, and awards podium.
  • We need volunteers to help dismantle event equipment, including feather flags, the awards podium, crowd control posts, ropes, and cones. Volunteers will help load these items into a vehicle and unload them at the storage unit.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering! The volunteer sign-up form is now closed. However, you can still show up on the day of the event to lend a hand. The volunteer sign-up form is open from Sunday to Thursday before each meet.
